Bridges out of Poverty Conference

May 4, 2018 @ 7:30 am - 3:30 pm

$35

Mountain Family Center presents “Bridges out of Poverty” – a conference to change the way we think about poverty. When? Friday, May 4 from 7:30 am – 3:30 pm. Where? Middle Park High School in Granby.

Cost? $35 for Grand County Residents (includes book, workbook, breakfast & lunch).

We still have about 15 seats available! This conference is a MUST for anyone who is concerned about the hardships associated with poverty in our community. We encourage anyone working in social services, law enforcement, healthcare or education, as well as interested members of the general public, to attend!

A summary of the ideas behind the Bridges out of Poverty model:
If you didn’t grow up in poverty, you may be unaware of the “hidden rules” that govern many aspects of life for the poor. People in poverty are often in survival mode, and support systems taken for granted in middle class and wealth are largely nonexistent. If you are a concerned community member or your business, agency or organization works with people from poverty, a deeper understanding of their challenges- and strengths- helps you partner with them to create opportunities for success.

We are looking forward to some excellent teaching and discussion about issues related to local poverty, in order to create and improve programs and services that are even more effective at removing barriers for those we are trying to help.
